About this Event
This hands-on workshop explores the philosophy and aesthetics of Kintsugi — the art of celebrating the history of an object by highlighting its repairs. In this class, we’ll use a safe, accessible contemporary method with epoxy adhesive and mica powders, rather than traditional urushi lacquer, making the process beginner-friendly and approachable.
You’ll be guided step-by-step through:
- Breaking and preparing ceramic pieces for repair
- Mixing and tinting epoxy adhesives
- Reassembling pieces slowly and securely
- Applying mica powders for shimmering “gold” seams
- Finishing and caring for your repaired artwork
All materials are provided, including the ceramic pieces you’ll work with — so no need to bring anything from home.
This workshop encourages patience, mindfulness, and the idea that visible repairs are something to honor. You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind piece that carries its story proudly.
