This online event will provide valuable insights and tips on how to navigate the challenges of kinship care while building strong and meaningful relationships. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with others and gain valuable knowledge!
BEING SELF-AWARE
While being a kinship carer is very rewarding, it can also be challenging and difficult at times. Looking after yourself and being self-aware is vitally important to ensure that you can look after your child or young person as much as possible. How well do you know yourself? Research shows that while 95% of us believe we are self-aware, only 10-15% of people actually are. How we think about ourselves affects how we feel about ourselves and how we interact with others and the world around us. Being self-aware can be a difficult task but by getting to know yourself better, you can learn what makes you tick, and what you can do to help yourselves when things get to be too much. It can also help you to better understand the young people in your care. So act today and book yourself onto this two-hour self-awareness and building relationships session for kinship carers to find out more about why these are important for you and those in your care and how you can help Look After your Family and Self to better support your health and wellbeing.
WHY DOES BEING SELF-AWARE MATTER?
It is vital that, as adults, we are aware of our own feelings and emotions to be able to recognise if we’re findings things difficult. So being self-aware is essential to our health and wellbeing and means having a clear insight into your own personality with the ability to tune in to your feelings, thoughts, and actions.
SESSION CONTENT
During this two-hour session we will discuss self-esteem, self-image, and self-awareness and why these matters to kinship carers. There will be the opportunity to speak to other kinship carers and share ideas, but we will cover the following topics:
