Get ready for a spectacular celebration as Kings Dip Weekend returns with a full programme of Georgian‑themed fun, music, and community cheer. The festivities begin on Saturday in St Mary Street outside the black dog for the King’s Birthday Bash bringing the town to life. From 3pm the street transforms into an old‑fashioned Georgian birthday tea party in honour of King George himself, complete with period flair, costumes, and that warm, nostalgic street‑party atmosphere we all love. Expect laughter, lively chatter, and plenty of opportunities to join the fun as the celebrations spill out into the heart of the town. On Sunday the energy shifts to the Esplanade, where the rhythm kicks in from 11am with live music and song carrying right through until 5pm. It’s the perfect backdrop to a full day of seaside celebration. Then, at 2pm, all eyes turn to the shore for the highlight of the weekend: the grand Kings Dip. Join King George and a sea of brave dippers as they plunge into the water for this joyful tradition that brings the whole community together.
A whole weekend of heritage, humour, music, and seaside spirit awaits. Kings Dip Weekend isn’t just an event – it’s a celebration of who we are.
