Taping for Oedema Reduction and Scar Management
Tape has become an important tool in elite sports training and management of skeletal muscular disorders. However standard methods of tape application are not suitable for acute and chronic oedema.
Lymph taping is a specialist area of kinesiology taping that can be applied to people with acute oedema after injury or surgery, and for affected by or at risk of cancer-related lymphoedema. Case- based demonstrations of lymph taping will be used to identify the potential benefits of lymph taping for affect persons and application of lymph tapes for acute oedema and scar therapy will be taught.
This course aims to:
• Describe the evolution of Lymph Taping
• Review basic lymphology in relation to the physiological actions of Lymph Taping
• Describe the properties of various kinesiology tapes and taping styles
• Outline the role of lymph taping in acute oedema management including appropriate styles of taping
• Outline the role of lymph taping in chronic oedema management including appropriate styles of taping
• Discuss the role of kinesiology taping in scar recovery and reduction
• Provide an overview of the role of specialist lymph taping practitioners and where to find them
