Kindred The Family Soul is a dynamic duo composed of Aja Graydon and Fatin Dantzler, a powerhouse couple whose love and artistry have shaped the sound of soul for over 25 years. Their journey began in adolescence, with early breakthroughs that set the stage for a career defined by musical innovation, authentic storytelling, and a profound commitment to family and community. Introduced in 1997 through a hip-hop production camp hosted by The Roots, their creative chemistry blossomed into a personal and professional partnership that spanned decades.
Together, they have released seven acclaimed studio albums and one live album, scoring multiple top 20 and top 10 Urban AC radio singles while earning nominations from Soul Train and BET. Their music has consistently celebrated love and unity, with anthems that speak to the sacrifices made for family and the beauty of Black love. Their energetic live shows—bolstered by a ten-piece band—became the heartbeat of Philadelphia’s renowned Black Lily showcases, inspiring not only their fans but also future stars like Jill Scott, Jazmine Sullivan, and John Legend.
Now, Kindred The Family Soul embarks on a new chapter with a tribute to soul legend Frankie Beverly by releasing a cover of “I Need You.” This heartfelt rendition pays homage to Beverly’s timeless influence and highlights Kindred’s enduring dedication to musical excellence and social unity. Bridging the gap between past inspirations and present innovation, this new single reaffirms the duo’s commitment to crafting soulful, meaningful music that resonates with listeners across generations.
With every release, Kindred The Family Soul reaffirms their legacy among soul legends, inspiring audiences and uniting hearts worldwide through transformative, uplifting music with passion.
