Beautiful short guided walk up Kinder Scout from Edale village. Suitable for beginners who want to walk at a steady conversational pace over a short distance.Distance: approximately 4.5 milesAscent: 340m with steep sections
Meeting time: 8:45am to set off for 9am
Meeting place: Edale village car park

Your guide, Sarah Lister, will take you on a route with stunning viewpoints, amazing rock formations, along a pretty brook, and then back down to the village. Sarah lives locally and will tell you a little bit about the history and geology of the area during the walk.
This guided walk might appeal to you if you are:
slowly building up your fitness
curious about mountain walking but you don’t want to take on too much too soon
wanting to try out walking on rocky terrain at an easy level
new to the area and looking to meet people
nervous about walking on Kinder Scout alone
At the end of the walk we will go to a cafe or pub for refreshments. This is optional and you will need to buy your own drinks/food.
The walk up is steep going up and down but we will walk at a very steady pace and take plenty of breaks. There will be some rocky terrain where you may need to use your hands a couple of times but this is at an easy level and your guide will support you if you need it. There is one wooden stile to step over a fence.
Walking poles would be useful as the final section is steep and can be slippy on the grass. Parking information, a kit list and a weather forecast will be provided in advance of our walk together. Please note that this walk is for adults aged 18+ only. It is unsuitable for dogs due to livestock in the area, there is a stile without access for dogs, and partially rocky terrain.
