In this class we will be learning some basic kiln information and get hands-on experience in common kiln maintenance processes.This class covers background information on kilns in a lecture format:
- Basic Kiln Vocabulary
- Considerations for Kilns in Home Studios
- Common Maintenance for Kilns
- How to Change Elements
- Basic Troubleshooting Trips
This class also covers a hands-on learning opportunity, where we will work together to perform kiln maintenance on one of our studio’s kilns. We will be:
- Disassembling and Reassembling a Kiln
- Replacing Kiln Elements and Kiln Bricks
- Changing a Thermocouple
Please note that member discounts do not apply to this workshop.
All tools and equipment are provided, but we recommend bringing something to take notes with. We will take a 30 minute break for a meal/snack, so please plan accordingly.
