About this Event
Kids Pottery Exploration: Wheel & Handbuilding Fun
This hands-on pottery class introduces kids to the magic of working with clay through both pottery wheel throwing and handbuilding. Students will have the opportunity to try the wheel with instructor guidance and, if they prefer or find the wheel challenging, transition seamlessly into handbuilding projects such as small cups, bowls, or sculptural creations.
This class is designed to be fun, exploratory, and pressure-free—perfect for curious kids who want to experience the pottery wheel while still ensuring a positive and creative outcome for every student.
What to Expect
- A demonstration of basic pottery wheel techniques.
- Each student will have access to their own pottery wheel during class with hands-on instructor support.
- A handbuilding option available throughout the class.
- Emphasis on creativity, exploration, and enjoying the process.
- Students may create 1–2 clay pieces, depending on pace, project choice, and ability.
- Finished pieces will be kiln-fired after class; families will be notified when items are ready for pickup.
Important Notes for Parents & Guardians
Pottery wheel throwing requires coordination, patience, and practice, and each child’s experience will be unique. While every student will have the opportunity to try the wheel, wheel-thrown results cannot be guaranteed—and that’s completely normal for beginners of all ages.
All students will be supported and guided toward a successful project, whether on the wheel or through handbuilding. Our goal is for every child to leave feeling proud, accomplished, and excited about working with clay.
