This is a KID beginner class and will get to test your design skills with 7 pieces of stationary and 2 wooden beads or 2 heart or egg ornaments. Class Overview
The Science of Marbling: Learn how to prepare a marbling "bath" using water thickened with carrageenan, allowing pigments to float rather than sink.
Techniques & Patterns: Master foundational patterns such as "stone," "get-gel" (back and forth), and "peacock" using traditional tools like combs, rakes, and styluses.
Material Transfer: Discover how to pre-treat surfaces with a mordant (alum) and carefully dip your medium to permanently capture your design.
Creative Freedom: Experiment with vibrant color palettes to create psychedelic or classical Turkish "Ebru" styles on various materials.
What You Will Create
Participants typically leave with a unique collection of finished pieces, which may include:
Hand-marbled paper for stationary. Custom accessories wooden ornaments or wooden beads
What to Expect
Step-by-Step Guidance: Instructors provide a 2025-standard hands-on demonstration covering everything from prep to the final rinse.
All Materials Included: All necessary supplies—trays, paints, treated paper/fabrics, and tools—are provided in the studio.
"Dress for a Mess": While aprons are often provided, marbling involves floating ink and water, so wearing comfortable, older clothing is recommended.
