Karate WA is excited to announce that in November we will be hosting our very first Kick Start Karate Tournament.Following consultation with our Athlete Leadership Team, Referee Commission, and coaches, this initiative has been designed to support first time competitors, athletes, coaches, and referees in new ways:
For Athletes:
A Training Camp and Tournament opportunity for first time competitors and beginners who are ready to step onto the tatami in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
For Current Athletes & Leaders:
An opportunity to expand their karate journey by stepping into new roles such as refereeing, coaching, table officiating, or marshalling, with guidance from qualified mentors.
The weekend program includes:
Training Camp - for First Time Competitors
Gold Netball Centre
Saturday 1st November 2025
12.30pm – 2.30pm
Learn tournament Kata, Kumite, and team building with the Karate WA Leadership Team.
Kick Start Tournament - A beginner friendly tournament with coaching and referee support.

Sunday 2nd November 2025
From 9am, schedule to be advised
This initiative is all about giving those athletes who have never participated in a tournament an opportunity to compete in both kata and kumite whilst building confidence, learn competition rules in a relaxed environment and become part of the Karate WA community.
It is also an opportunity for our current tournament athletes to look towards trying other pathways in their karate journey by providing an opportunity to coach or referee while being mentored and supported by qualified coaches and referees.
Registrations
Competitors: Register via the TryBooking QR code (on the attached poster). The all-inclusive fee of $70 covers both the training camp and tournament entry (Kata and Kumite).
Officials: Register via the QR code on the Officials poster so we know who will be attending.
Posters
Two posters are attached for distribution to your members:
Competitors – for athletes and parents
Officials – for members interested in refereeing, coaching, or volunteering
If you would like posters mailed to an address other than the one provided in your 2025 Membership application, or to multiple addresses, please advise by emailing [email protected] by close of business Thursday 25th Sept.
