Kiambicho Kiamuti Forest is a unique dry woodland forest in Sagana area of Murang'a. It also hosts the upper section of Sagana River and the picturesque Sagana Gorges and Canyons created by years of erosion. Historically, the forest was used to detain Mau Mau fighters as recent as 1952 and to a keen observer, the traces are all over.From the top of the hills, one is treated to expansive views of the Ukambani and Mwea plainlands, the hills and valleys that make up Murang's, Kilimambogo and on a clear day, Mt. Kenya.
This hike is slightly steep and covers around 16km starting with the rickety bridge crossing the mighty river. The hike ends at one of the restaurants overlooking the river for lunch, games and stretch.
This hike is rated moderate and suitable for both beginners and experienced hikers. Despite being relatively easy, the temperatures rise to uncomfortable degrees thus the need to start the hike early and cool down by the river afterwards.
