About this Event
Khani Cole's ascent into the national and international consciousness began after relocating to Phoenix from her native Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1992. The move sparked her debut release, Piece of My Soul, on Fahrenheit Records — an album of rich harmonic and lyrical depth that stood apart from the smooth jazz trends of its time and caught on nationwide, featuring jazz greats Brian Bromberg and Joey DeFrancesco.
Her follow-up, Places, produced by Grammy winner Michael Broening, produced a top-30 NAC radio single, and her most recent release, Lifetime, quickly ascended the European radio charts. Over the course of her career she has shared the stage with George Benson, Grover Washington Jr., and Joe Sample.
Named Best Female Vocalist by both Phoenix Magazine and New Times, Jazz Times praised her "soulful alto that reveals uncommon emotion and strength." Tonight she brings all of that world-class artistry to the intimate stage of The Womack.
