Biography

Kelvin studies classical viola at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with principal professor Matthew Jones, and also, under the kind guidance of Sarah-jane Bradley and LSO player Germán Clavijo.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Kelvin is enthusiastic in orchestral playing and is a current recipient of the London Symphony Orchestra Orchestral Artistry (OA) course. He has also been an active chamber musician at home, in the UK and abroad. Kelvin has participated in solo masterclasses with Yuko Inuoe in the British Isle Music festival and Simon Rowland-Jones in several occasions. Kelvin was one of the full scholarship recipients to study with Professor William Coleman in the Mattheiser Sommer-Akademie 2023 in Bad Sobernheim, Germany.

In 2018, Kelvin commissioned “A Small, Intimate Gesture” for solo viola by Sam Buttler as part of the Vote 100 campaign in Royal Holloway, University of London in support with the LGBTQ+ movement.
