The Friends of Nanaimo Jazz Society presents the all-star, Kelby MacNayr Quintet on January 31st at The Queen's.
We're starting our 2026 series with a smokin' set that brings together five of the west coast's top jazz musicians.
Drummer, composer, and bandleader Kelby MacNayr performs in an array of musical styles. MacNayr has honed his skills performing with some of the greats in Jazz including John Clayton, Neil Swainson, Misha Piatigorsky, Phil Dwyer, Louise Rose, Larry Fuller, Gary Smulyan, Terrell Stafford, Brad Turner, Ingrid Jensen and more.
The Kelby MacNayr Quintet features Phil Dwyer on tenor sax, with Nick Peck on piano, Steve Wallace on bass, and Migeulito Valdes on trumpet. It will be a night of innovative sounds, and singable melodies with bold rhythms, bringing musical mastery to the creative imagination of Kelby MacNayr.
