Whilst both live in Canterbury and dementia influences their lives, it does so in very different ways. Keith is a national activist with a diagnosis, and Reinhard works in the NHS to diagnose and then support people after their diagnosis. Their illustrated talk will tell the story of their friendship and collaboration with writing what has been termed ‘a landmark book’ – Talking with Dementia Reconsidered.
At a time when almost a million people have dementia in the UK and many millions more are affected through caring, it is fair to say this is the greatest health and social care challenge facing the country. This engaging and insightful talk and book offers rays of light and hope alongside realism that can only be shared from those who live with what Terry Pratchett termed ‘this wretched embuggerance’.
Talks will last approximately one hour followed by a Q&A.
Books will be sold at the Talks and online by The Bookshop at Canterbury Christ Church University.
