The Kecak Dance, known as The Ramayana Monkey Chant Dance, is one of the most famous Balinese pieces developed in the 1930s. Performed by Balinese men wearing only loincloths with their upper bodies left bare, it highlights the art of movement and chants purely using the human voice with no musical instruments involved. The Kecak Dance performs the classic Hindu epic, the Ramayana, telling a dramatic love story of Rama and Shinta, featuring characters such as Lakshmana, Hanoman, and Sugriwa.
