Do you know how your tax dollars were spent this past legislative session? Do you know how much the budget increased? Do you know how these things directly affect your property taxes? Join us at True Texas Project this month to hear from Andrew McVeigh, the President and CEO of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility. Our friends at TFR have created the Fiscal Responsibility Index, a biennial report-card that grades lawmakers on their budget, tax and liberty-related votes. They've called out corporate welfare for adding to families’ tax burdens and crafted the Texas Prosperity Plan to eliminate property taxes using state surpluses, ban taxpayer-funded lobbying, and cap budget growth to prioritize family needs. These issues impact all of us in various ways, and at times we forget just how unnecessarily burdened we are as taxpayers. Join us to learn how we can make a difference and hold our elected representatives accountable for their votes.
