About this Event
10 Hour Katonah & Philosophy Immersion
Friday 6-8pm
Saturday 2-7pm (break in the middle)
Sunday 2-7pm (break in the middle)
Description:
Join us for a weekend of practice that blends intelligent movement with deep self-inquiry. This immersion offers tools for seeing the body with more imagination and the mind with more clarity. By weaving theory and embodiment, we practice becoming more spherical and less linear, on and off the mat.
Katonah Yoga® is a geometric and metaphor-rich system that draws from multiple lineages including Iyengar Yoga and Taoism. We use structure to create freedom, learning how to organize the body in space and the Self in time. Together we’ll explore creative use of props, skillful adjustments, clear measurements, and fluid movements to cultivate a practice that is equally precise and imaginative.
Alongside our Asana practice, we’ll study Yoga philosophy as a practical lens. Using major themes in the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita, we’ll explore how these teachings directly apply to daily life. Through lecture, discussion, and journaling, we’ll examine purpose, action, suffering, and liberation as lived experiences rather than abstract ideas.
This immersion is for:
● Teachers who want to sharpen their tools and language
● Practitioners who want greater clarity and self-awareness
● Anyone curious to deepen their relationship to Yoga
No prior experience with Katonah or classical philosophy is required. Just a body, a mind, and a willingness to explore. 10 CEUs for registered teachers; 5 hours bankable toward a Katonah Yoga® certification.
