Clear-eyed and tough-minded, songwriter/playwright Katie Dahl is known for her smart songs, wry wit, and wise spirit. A small-town celebrity on the Wisconsin peninsula where her family has lived for 175 years, Katie is also an internationally touring, radio-charting artist who “delivers razor-sharp lyrics with a hearty, soulful voice” (American Songwriter). In live shows that are both courageously honest and devilishly funny, Katie dives deep into questions of land and love, family and body image, grief and joy. “In unsettled times,” says Peter Mulvey, “Katie Dahl brings us a grounded spirit.”
Katie’s five albums of original songs showcase her creamy alto, abiding love of the land, and trademark humor, as well as her unflinching vulnerability. Her recent work finds her exploring deeper territory than ever before, from anxiety to body image to the challenges of growing up queer in an evangelical church. Richly steeped in the American songwriting tradition, Katie navigates the muddy waters between the personal, public, and political with tenderness and dexterity.
In 2025, Katie won the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Competition; in 2023 she was named “Most Wanted to Return” at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist Showcase. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel writes, “Katie Dahl . . . combine[s] old-fashioned populism, an abiding love of the land and wickedly smart love songs, all delivered in a rich and expressive alto.”

Julie Wolf is a music producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, music director and educator. She is part of a vibrant, far-flung creative community that includes musicians, playwrights, directors, actors, dancers, choreographers, poets, filmmakers, activists, educators and rascals.
Julie is based in Oakland, California, where she helms Julie Wolf Music––specializing in music production, songwriting mentoring, composing for film, dance and theatre, and audio editing. Recent producing highlights include Katie Dahl’s Seven Stones; Deidre McCalla’s Endless Grace (mentioned on multiple Best of 2022 songwriter and folk lists); Allison Miller/Boom Tic Boom’s Glitter Wolf (mentioned on multiple Best of 2019 Jazz lists). Bruce Cockburn’s Bone on Bone (winner of 2018 JUNO Award for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year); Dillbilly’s Chaparral; Kofy Brown’s Child of Providence; Katie Cash’s Gift Horse; Just Like A Woman duet with Carly Simon (from Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan). Over the last 30+ years, Julie has appeared on stages around the world and on numerous critically acclaimed recordings. She has collaborated with Ani DiFranco, Carly Simon, Indigo Girls, Maceo Parker, Bruce Cockburn, Jill Sobule, Joan Baez, Dar Williams, Eliza Gilkyson, Cris Williamson, Toshi Reagon, Allison Miller, Wayne Horvitz, and a bunch of other amazing musicians.
Sometimes you can find Julie in the wild Music Directing musical theatre! Most recently: Wild Project’s Drama Desk nominated/NYTimes Critics Pick production of Jill Sobule/Liza Birkenmeier’s F*ck7thGrade (directed by Lisa Peterson). She’s also made work at ACT; Berkeley Repertory Theatre; California Shakespeare Theater; Actors Theatre of Louisville; La Jolla Playhouse and Julie received an L.A Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical Direction for her work in the CTG/Kirk Douglas Theatre 2015 production of Todd Almond’s Girlfriend. Her original music for the 2009 documentary Sweet Crude was nominated for Best Original Score at the Maverick Movie Awards and received special mention in Variety.
Julie teaches music production workshops and gives clinics, private lessons/mentoring sessions.
