Community Planting Day: Kath Hopper ReserveJoin us for a special Community Planting Day at Kath Hopper Reserve! We're coming together to plant over 1000 native trees and shrubs in this important local area. Your hands-on contribution will help restore the beautiful saltmarsh and estuary edge, enhance the natural beauty of the reserve, and create vital habitat for local wildlife, including some of our rarer native birds like the fernbird (mātātā), spotless crake (pūweto), and banded rail (moho pererū).
The transformation is already well underway, and we're encouraged by the support from locals who enjoy walking around the estuary. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature, meet fellow community members, and make a lasting positive impact on our environment.
All ages and experience levels are welcome – come and be part of this green transformation!
