Round 1: Teams build a free-standing tower using limited materials like newspapers, tape, sticks, and thermocol. The aim is to achieve maximum height while maintaining stability and creativity. Evaluation is based on height, structural stability, and innovative design, encouraging teamwork and problem-solving under time constraints.
Round 2: - “Supply Chain Challenge,” a mock logistics obstacle course where teams must transport goods like marble or beans with twist. This test of coordination and creative problem-solving forces teams to navigate “Customs Hubs” and “Last Mile” hurdles under time pressure. Success is measured by Lead Time and Damage Rates, mirroring real-world supply chain efficiency.
Round 3: The TIMWOOD Lens is a game designed to train students in identifying operational inefficiencies using Lean management principles. The session begins with a 10 minute “Crash Course” that introduces the eight types of waste: Transport, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Overproduction, Over-processing, Defects, and Skills. Participants then engage in round where they watch videos of simple and complex processes, such as pizza making or car assembly, to spot as many instances of waste as possible.
