This tour takes us around Kapʻiolani Park, one of Hawaiʻi's earliest public parks. A 3-hour walking tour may sound daunting but in reality, we don't walk the entire time. The total walking distance is less that 1 miles.
There are 4-5 stops along the tour, spending 20-30 minutes at each. Each stop will be shaded and comfortable with picnic tables or grass to sit on. Feel free to bring foldable chairs to walk with.
Starting at Kaimana Beach, this tour will end fronting the Honolulu Zoo.
From the days of "ancient Hawaiʻi", which we acknowledge King Kamehameha I as its bookend, to the establishment of the Hawaiian Kingdom to its illegal overthrow and beyond, guests will hear stories and information about Hawaiʻi's history that has been said to be, "not taught in schools."
In this tour, pictures and media will be distributed and used to help guests see a contrast between "Now and Then" and create an opportunity to "step into history." By the end of this tour, the goal is each guest will be much more knowledgeable of Hawaiʻi, our history, our successes and our challenges. The hope is that when guests return home, these are the stories that are shared with family and friends.
"We are all innocently ignorant until we're no longer. From then on, we chose to be willfully ignorant."
Water bottle and granola bars will be available on-site, but personal water bottles are recommended.
The following are suggested/recommended:
•shoes
•sunglasses
•hats

•post on social media and tag @nowandthentours #nowandthentours
Both free and paid parking are available around Kapiʻolani Park. The Honolulu Zoo has a large paid parking lot open to the public.
Public restrooms will be available along the tour.
Surveys will be distributed and returned at the end of the tour. Feedback is important and essential for Now & Then Tours Hawaiʻi.
