THE TIME IS NOW.Following the historic mobilization at Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin and the subsequent release of 1,500 of the 2,000 beagles trapped in Ridglan, Kansas City is joining the national call to "Free the Beagles!”
Ridglan Farms, a facility where a judge has already found probable cause for felony animal cruelty, has already agreed to surrender its state breeding license by July 1, 2026, to avoid those animal cruelty charges—but the dogs are still there.
Envigo, another major Beagle breeding and research company, was found guilty of and cited for violations of the Animal Welfare, in 2022, resulting in the rescue of nearly 4,000 dogs from their facility in Virginia.
Without urgent intervention, these survivors could be sold to other research labs or face an uncertain future.
We are gathering in Kansas City to send a clear message: July 1 is too late. We demand an immediate, humane transition plan that places these dogs in sanctuaries and loving homes.
What We Will Do:
- Petition Drive: Our primary goal is to double our local signature count. We need outgoing volunteers to engage the public and explain the urgency of the July 1st deadline, as well as the efforts to end beagle testing in general.
- Representative Outreach: We will be providing materials for attendees to call and email their representatives on-site.
- Visual Demonstration: We will stand in solidarity with the activists who were tear-gassed and arrested during the Wisconsin "Open Rescue" attempt, ensuring their sacrifice leads to real legislative change.
