About this Event
Outernational all-female powerhouse ensemble "Kallemi"كلّمي" is a result of a collaborative musical project between Swiss, Dominican and Palestinian musicians.
Kallemi, Arabic for ‘Speak to Me’ in feminine voice, was founded in 2018 by Jasmin Albash, La Nefera, Maysa Daw, and Rasha Nahas.
Born on the path between Basel and Ramallah via Haifa & Berlin, the ensemble started as a result of an exchange project by Kaserne Basel. The group first met in Ramallah and worked intensely preparing for a one-time show in Kaserne Basel. Yet straight after getting off the stage in Switzerland, it was clear for everyone that the project will not stop there.
The Genre-fluid ensemble organically blurring the line between Hip-Hop, Rock, R&B, blending deep butter beats with world influenced percussions, dipped in bold distorted guitars with soulful, delicate yet fierce singing in Arabic, English and Spanish.
Having performed in Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Palestine, and beyond, Kallemi has built a loyal and growing following, inspiring audiences with their raw energy and global narratives.
Doors open at 7.30pm; performance starts at 8pm; no intervals.
