The Bangalore School of Music Chamber Orchestra, featuring the illustrious artists Marialena Fernandes and the Motus Quartet, presents a diverse selection of pieces by Mendelssohn, Bach, Wagner, Haydn, Dvořák, and Mozart. The program includes two concertos—Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.12 and Bach’s Violin Concerto in E—demonstrating how a seasoned performer (Marialena Fernandes) executes a work by a young prodigy (Mozart) and how an emerging violinist (Grace Biswas) interprets the work of a seasoned composer (Bach).Transitioning from solo concertos to a chamber ensemble, the Motus Quartet performs the lavish Dvořák Quintet and the measured Haydn String Quartet. Finally, moving from solos to quartet to full chamber orchestra, the evening features Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 10, an abridged version of a celebrated Wagner overture, and a small symphony by William Boyce. The performers for the evening vary greatly in sophistication, ranging from a youth orchestra to highly established players of different age groups and experience.Spanning the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras, the concert celebrates a full range of musical styles in all their glory.
