Celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month through a flavorful journey of food, prose and poetry. Participants will delve into a curated selection of writings by AAPI authors and explore the cultural heritage, familial connections, individual experiences, and culinary experiences as expressed through literature centered around food. Writers of all levels will gain a deeper appreciation for AAPI food traditions and develop writing skills through the exploration of diverse literary works and food-based writing prompts.Sheila Navarro is an educator and writer in Las Vegas, Nevada. She earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College and is a co-founder and instructor for WeWrite!, which focuses on uplifting emerging AAPI writers.
Friday Night Writes is hosted by Clark County Poet Laureate Angela M. Brommel as part of her poetry for resilience program.
