Kahil El'Zabar : An Afternoon of Rhythm & Wine
A rare solo afternoon with jazz legend Kahil El’Zabar at a winery with its own musical roots.
It’s been over 50 years since Kahil El’Zabar and his Ethnic Heritage Ensemble first took to the stage. Eighteen albums and countless tours later they’re still inspiring artists and listeners to open themselves to a higher consciousness of sound. Playing freed-up and virtuosic sets that put jazz, R&B, funk and gospel in deep conversation African folk and dance traditions.
In this intimate session of stories and songs, El’Zabar weaves percussion, voice and memory into a powerful journey through jazz history and spirit. Inspired by Giant Steps’ musical roots and its Circle of Fifths philosophy - where single vineyard voices unite in harmony - this event celebrates the art of blending sound, story and wine.
The winery takes its name from John Coltrane’s iconic composition Giant Steps. Its musical legacy inspired Circle of Fifths wine range - a nod to the rhythm, structure and harmony shared between music and wine.
Your ticket includes a glass of Giant Steps Circle of Fifths Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, with shared grazing platters served throughout the performance.
Additional wines will be available for purchase by the glass and bottle throughout the event.
