In 2026, 50 years since the Soweto Uprising and 30 years since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings began, we gather again in Soweto through poetry, music, and conversation, asking how we continue living, loving, and building together now. This month centres Black history and love.
The Kabomedi Talk with Dorrah Hlatshwayo focuses on finding the right partners, in life, in art, and in community. Poetry will be shared by Raphael d’Abdon, Thobile Phudi, and Nhlanha Rihlamfu, with live music by L8 Antique and sounds curated by Waya Waya.

Kabomedi brings poetry, music, and gathering back into lived, social space. Alongside the performances, the space includes local stalls, conversation, and a community atmosphere that values listening and exchange.
Kabomedi Poetry Library
We invite everyone attending to bring a book donation. Poetry books are especially welcome, but any literature that nourishes reading and imagination will help grow the Kabomedi library and keep stories circulating in the community.
Your ticket supports the artists, vendors, and the ongoing Kabomedi community initiatives.
