Hosted by Indian Heritage Academy in collaboration with Azim Premji University, this programme examines Kabir's enduring philosophy of love, equality, and spiritual inclusivity — one that transcends religious and caste divisions. The speaker, Dr. Ajai Kumar Singh, is a retired IPS officer who served as Director General of Police, Karnataka, and holds a PhD from Bengaluru University for his comparative scholarly work on the medieval saint-poets Allamma Prabhu and Kabir.
About the speaker
Dr. Ajai Kumar Singh is a retired officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and scholar from Uttar Pradesh. A 1974 IPS inductee allotted to the Karnataka cadre, he rose through the ranks to serve as Director General (DG) & Inspector General of Police (IG Police), the state's highest police post, from January 2009 until his retirement in January 2011. He holds advanced degrees in political science and Hindi and a PhD from Bengaluru University on comparing the two medieval saint-poets, Allamma Prabhu and Kabir. A decorated officer and prolific literary translator, he has rendered major Kannada works into Hindi and received two President's Police Medals.
