This workshop offers a deep dive into the practice of kōkō pūʻalu making for ipu. Participants will learn how to make a kōkō pūʻalu, where Kumu Kukini will teach the students the making of the piko and hanai along with the kōkō pūʻalu knots using a hiʻa (shuttle) and haha (gauging tool). Participants will then learn how to make the kākai (cords that run from the net to the top) and pū (handle), in addition to learning how to cut and clean their ipu, which is included in the workshop. The workshop fee includes two gourds for the ʻumeke and poʻi (lid), all needed cordage, hiʻa (shuttle), and haha.Cost:
