The event will take place at the Federal Court of Canada in downtown Toronto on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00pm.

The IP Innovation Clinic is honoured to continue this annual tribute to the legacy of Justice Hughes, a distinguished figure in intellectual property (IP) law. His pioneering work helped shape Canada’s IP landscape, and his influence continues to resonate through the legal community, academic institutions, and the many people he inspired.

Justice Hughes was a cherished friend and collaborator on several IP initiatives at Osgoode Hall Law School. The evening will feature remarks from The Honourable Justice Angela Furlanetto, Justice of the Federal Court of Canada and ex officio member of the Federal Court of Appeal, and Professor Pina D’Agostino, DPhil, Associate Vice President Research, York University, Founder and Director of the IP Innovation Clinic, and Scientific Director of Connected Minds, is the event’s organizing chair. The keynote lecture will be given by Daniel Bereskin, C.M, K.C, Principal at Smart & Biggar LP.
