One-day 2.5 hour session
Discover the art of wheel throwing in this engaging, hands-on workshop designed for beginners and curious creatives alike. This one-day 2.5 hour session offers a fun and welcoming environment to explore the fundamentals of pottery. Under the guidance of experienced ceramic artist Henry Engelmeyer, you’ll learn essential techniques such as centering, pulling, and shaping clay on the wheel. Whether you’re trying pottery for the first time or just looking to get your hands dirty with something new, this workshop is all about the process and the joy of creating.
Important note: Participants should not expect to take any completed pieces home at the end. This class focuses on skill-building and creative exploration rather than finished work. That said, if a student really wants to take home their wet clay creation(s), they may.
Suggested Materials: Bring a towel (not required but recommended).
For ages 16+ only. All tools and materials are included—just bring your curiosity!
About the Instructor:
Henry Engelmeyer has been playing with clay for about 9 years. He throws mostly decorative pieces and loves to play with shapes and size. He finds his pottery work is a great way to clear his mind and challenge himself with new shapes.
Refund Policy:
- Transfers to another class follow the same refund rules as your original date.
- 14+ days before the first class: Full refund.
- 7–13 days before the first class: Refund minus a 50% administrative fee.
- Fewer than 7 days before the first class: No refunds.
- Seat transfer: If you find a replacement who pays for and takes your seat before the first class begins, you are eligible for a full refund.

Pottery pieces not picked up after 30 days will be discarded.
Class may be canceled due to low enrollment in which case a full refund will be issued.
Cancellation Policy:
MakerSpace reserves the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment. If a class is canceled by MakerSpace, fees are 100% refundable.
