About this Event
Race Forward, producer of Facing Race, the largest multiracial, racial justice conference in the country, is thrilled to announce The Just Narratives Summit 2025.
The Just Narratives Summit 2025 is a 2 day convening of narrative practitioners, communicators, storytellers, and racial equity leaders, advocates, and movement builders. "Narrative strategy" at Race Forward refers to the practice of intentionally crafting and sharing connected stories across various platforms to advance racial justice by countering harmful racist narratives and building a powerful narrative that emphasizes need for racially equitable society for all; essentially, using storytelling as a tool to shift deeply ingrained values, beliefs, attitudes and system.
Narrative Strategy is a core to advancing racial equity in our policies, practices, institutions, and communities. And yet, there are few spaces for narrative practitioners and racial justice leaders to connect, build meaningful relationships, and strategize together.
The goal of the Summit is to build alignment between narrative practitioners and racial justice advocates, and together build a narrative strategy that will dismantle harmful dominant racist narratives, particularly in health, economic mobility, immigration, governance and democracy. Together, we will create new narratives that envisions a racially just world where communities of color thrive.
Who is this convening for?
- Narrative practitioners, communicators, messaging experts, and storytellers working on advancing equity and racial justice.
- Racial Justice movement leaders who work closely with communities most impacted by systemic racism and therefore have the experience and relationships needed to sharpen a narrative strategy for racial justice.
- Racial justice practitioners working with nonprofits, arts and culture institutions, and government agencies who are looking for narrative support as part of their institutional change work.
What content will be offered in the convening?
Attendees will have opportunities to deepen their understanding of narrative strategy for racial justice, participate in building racially just narratives in health, economic mobility, immigration, governance and democracy, and connect with other narrative experts and racial justice leaders in a generative and creative space. Content will be in the form of breakout sessions, plenaries, keynote speakers, interactive art exhibits, musical performances, and healing spaces.
