The Just Narratives 2025 is a multi-day convening of narrative practitioners, communicators, storytellers, and racial equity leaders.
About this Event

Narrative organizers and racial justice leaders and advocates to the front! Culture bearers, storytellers, communicators, organizers, and leaders of the racial justice movement are all invited to join Race Forwardโ€™s convening on narrative change for racial justice and multiracial solidarity.

Just Narratives for Multiracial Solidarity is a multi-day convening in St. Louis, MO, from November 13 to 15, 2025. It is our signature event for the Cultural Week of Action on Race and Democracy. This event bridges narrative strategists, grassroots organizers and movement builders, racial equity advocates, artists, performers, creatives, and media makers who are dedicated to popularizing narratives for solidarity praxis, collaborative governance, and racial justice.

In these times, our opposition wants our communities to lose hope and our will to fight for the liberated future we have been advancing towards over generations. That is why, despite their efforts to dehumanize us and strip our civil, political, and human rights, it is crucial for us to continue to imagine, harmonize our narratives, and strategize together on how we make our ancestorsโ€™ wildest dreams real.

Together, using storytelling and cultural expression, we will break through the noise and ignite the mass courage needed to make our liberated future undeniable. Together we will:

  • Align on new and effective narrative and cultural strategies and tactics that make our vision of solidarity and a racially just world real and inevitable;
  • Learn new skillsets, practices, and tools for narrative change for racial justice and solidarity by doing and peer learning;
  • identify opportunities for collaborations on impact storytelling for racial justice through various mediums and platforms;
  • Strengthen and grow the narrative ecosystem and infrastructure needed to scale narrative change for racial justice and solidarity; and
  • foster solidarity for racial justice across our identities, geographies, and issue areas;

Attendees will have opportunities to deepen their understanding and praxis of narrative strategies for racial justice and solidarity, sparking new ideas and collaborations for storytelling and civic media, movement-building and mass mobilization locally and nationally. Content will include:

  • Peopleโ€™s movement assembly and interactive discussions
  • Breakout sessionsSkills-building workshops
  • Plenaries and keynote
  • Mixers, opportunities to connect and network
  • Performances, art and cultural activities

* Please note that ONLY attendees will have a chance to submit breakout session proposals. We will email registrants with more information on how to submit a breakout later in the summer.

Just Narratives will serve as a lab where together we can co-construct and mobilize racially just narratives that will transform mindsets, policies, practices, and institutions in favor of racial justice and solidarity.
