About this Event
Our Junior Ranger Nature Club will run every Thursday afternoon during the summer holidays. Aimed at children aged 12 years and over, the sessions will cover a range of topics designed to give an overview of what it is like to work as a woodland ranger.
Each session will include an element of work which could include tree maintenance, habitat creation or general woodland maintenance followed by a more in-depth look at how to identify a particular species and undertake surveys related to them.
Session 1 (4th July): Introduction to iNaturalist and Mammal Mapper to record wildlife sightings.
Session 2 (11th July): Ponds and Rivers
Session 3 (18th July): Marvellous Moths
Session 4 (25th July): Tracks and Trails
Session 5 (1st August): Save our Squirrels
Session 6 (8th August): Big Butterfly Count
Due to a generous grant from the Scottish Borders Climate Action Network (SBCAN), we are able to offer these sessions at the reduced cost of £5 per session. Priority is given to those who can complete all six sessions and individual sessions may be opened up if space allows. Every participant will also receive wildlife guides from the Field Studies Council that are appropriate for each session.
