Discover the incredible life living just beneath the water’s surface! Participants will use seine and dip nets with Fisheries Biologist Lisa Landry, Ranger Garrett Shelton, and Naturalist Alex Landry to safely sample fish, shrimp, crabs, and other fascinating aquatic organisms found in Louisiana’s largest lake. Through hands-on exploration, students will learn about coastal ecosystems and the importance of protecting our local waters. This engaging, science-based program fosters curiosity, environmental stewardship, and a deeper connection to Lake Pontchartrain’s unique estuarine habitat.
Please bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and dress for being in the lake!
This program is free to attend, but registration is required and limited to 25 children. While this event is specifically designed for children aged 8–12, parents and guardians are expected to remain for the duration of the program.
