We are excited to host the 10th annual Junior Gardeners Competition with in-person judging and awards ceremony during the Stafford Party in the Park event!
From May 22 to June 14, 2026 any youth age 16 or under as of May 1, 2026 are eligible to register to compete as an exhibitor. All plants designated for this competition must be obtained at Sunset Nursery in Laurentian Valley (2177 Greenwood Road) at no charge.
JUNIOR GARDNERS COMPETION SCHEDULE

Registration and Free Plant Pick Up at Sunset Nursery Garden Centre & Greenhouse (located at 2177 Greenwood Rd)
June 15 – July 18, 2026
Grow and nurture your chosen plant or flower

Junior Gardeners Competition - Awards Ceremony at Stafford Park located at 641 Third Ave South during Stafford Park’s “Party in the Park” event
Plant Drop Off – 10:00 – 10:30 am
Judging 10:30 – 11:00 am
Awards Ceremony 11:00 – 11:30 am
BBQ Lunch – Noon (Free for Competitors)
Junior Gardeners can stay after the awards ceremony and enjoy a few hours of play at the Stafford Party in the Park ! Special features include a bouncy castle, Laurentian Valley fire department slip and slide, LV Fire Truck on site, BBQ lunch, youth prize draw, splash pad, slushies and playgrounds.
