About this Event

Thank You for Signing Up for Junior Beekeeper!We’re so excited to have you join us for a hands-on, educational, and truly memorable beekeeping experience. You’re guaranteed to learn a lot, have a few laughs, and leave Honeybee Centre ready to bee a Bee Hero! 🐝


Program Overview:

Junior Beekeeper Learn why we need beekeepers! This experience begins with a classroom lesson, then we suit up and head outside to open a working beehive with Beekeeper Cassie. You’ll help inspect the hive, smoke the bees and search for the queen.



Important Details:

Recommended Age:This program is best suited for children 7+.Children under 7 may attend at the discretion of their adults, but please consider your child’s ability to:

• Sit through a 30-minute lesson

• Follow verbal instructions

• Wait patiently (LOTS of WAITING!)

• Remain in a beekeeping suit or jacket with face veil during the entire time in the apiary

Younger participants are welcome, but we kindly ask that all guests help support a positive experience for other learners. This program is not recommended for children under 4.



Registration & Payment:
  • All children over 4 years must be registered and paid to participate and be in the space.
  • Adults do not need to pay. Please limit to one adult per child.
  • Group Discount: 10% off for groups of 3+ children — email [email protected] to book.



Arrival:

Please arrive at least 5 minutes early so we can check in, use the washroom and start on time. Late arrivals are disruptive once the lesson begins.

Free parking is available in the large lot in front of Honeybee Centre.



What to Wear:
  • Long pants
  • Long socks
  • Closed-toe shoes. We’ll provide beekeeper jackets or suits and gardening gloves for all participants.



Weather Notice:

This is an indoor/outdoor, weather-dependent program. In case of rain, we’ll contact you the day before with the option to reschedule (space permitting) or receive a refund.



Other Good-to-Know Info:

Photos: We occasionally take photos during programs to share the fun on social media. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know at check-in.

Washrooms: On-site washrooms are available. A quick stop before suiting up is recommended!

Before You Go: Be sure to visit our shop to sample local honey and peek into the observation hive! Guests also receive 10% off same-day purchases over $10.
