Join us as we close out a powerful Juneteenth weekend in Central Hillside with an afternoon of music, culture, food, learning, and community celebration.
The weekend begins Friday morning with the Juneteenth Elders Brunch, honoring the wisdom, leadership, and contributions of the generations who paved the way. Friday afternoon, the Duluth NAACP hosts the 52nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration, bringing our community together to commemorate freedom, progress, and Black history.
On Saturday, Family Freedom Center, Ignite Empower Transform, and the Duluth African Heritage Commission invite the community to gather for the Juneteenth Street Dance & Concert, a high-energy celebration featuring live performances from local and regional artists, community speakers, family activities, and opportunities to connect with neighbors from across the Twin Ports.
Event Activities Include:
• Live music and performances throughout the day
• Community basketball tournament (12:00 PM - 4:00 PM)
• Kids games and family activities
• Local food and merchandise vendors
• Unapologetically African, an interactive cultural exhibit exploring African history, innovation, leadership, and achievement before, during, and after the era of slavery
• Raffles, prizes, giveaways, and guest speakers
Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates the strength, perseverance, and contributions of Black people throughout history. This weekend creates space to learn, celebrate, connect, and build toward the future together.
