Be inspired to hear of the resilience, strength, and faith of enslaved Africans of the past and the hope and fight for a better world presently and for the future.Juneteenth, officially recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. This day symbolizes liberation, progress, and the ongoing journey toward justice and equality.
