Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the official emancipation of enslaved people following the announcement in Texas on June 19, 1865. It is celebrated as a day to honor freedom, community, and resilience. Our celebration is a joyful gathering for everyone to recognize our shared history and the ongoing journey toward equality. Live performances and music by: Near West Theatre Youth Performers, Blakk Jakk Dance Collective, DOC Studios: Poetry & Spoken Word, Djapo Cultural Arts, and AfroFunk Revölution.
