Juneteenth: Bridging Communities — Community Day at Whiteside Park celebrates the rich African American history of Chattanooga and honors communities such as Lincoln Park, Orchard Knob, Bushtown, and surrounding neighborhoods whose stories helped shape the city. This event is rooted in fellowship, culture, music, food, family activities, and community connection, while also shining a light on the historic importance of Lincoln Park — a historic African American public park that was determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. Through this gathering, we celebrate legacy, uplift community, and build support for a future in which Lincoln Park’s history is preserved, revitalized, and more fully returned to public life.
