What's the deal here ...?
Well, this is how it works:
Volunteers step up to attempt to run our parkrun at a relatively constant pace to finish at a predetermined time. They will encourage those with or near them on the way round too 🤩
Our runners can follow the pacers or stay ahead of them and hope to achieve an elusive PB!
As a Pacer, it's really good fun to put yourself in a different part of the pack than you are used to and meet some different people.
It's a surprisingly tricky yet fun challenge, GPS on watches/phones, mud and weather all play their part in trying to get your time as close to target as you can.
As a volunteer Pacer, you will earn both a Volunteer Credit AND a Run Credit - Bonus 🤩
Pacer Week will be the first Saturday of every month going forward - subject to relevant regulations.
