SCMA is free and open to all.
Join us from 4–8 p.m. for an evening of art, making, and community at the Smith College Museum of Art. Galleries are open until 8 p.m.
Second Friday Schedule
From 4–7 p.m.
Drop in for hands-on art making in the Boeckman Sculpture Court (Museum Atrium)! All ages welcome.
What kinds of spaces help us feel safe, rested, joyful, or connected? Inspired by the exhibition "Don’t Mind if I Do" and architect Phyllis Birkby’s idea of “fantasy environments,” this drop-in workshop with guest artist Jeff Kasper invites visitors of all ages to draw, collage, and imagine spaces they wish existed for rest, play, gathering, community, or care.
From 4–8 p.m. Enjoy four floors of art!
In addition, there will be a screening of films by architect and activist Phyllis Birkby in Graham Hall. These films showcase Birkby’s documentation of the feminist movement and NYC lesbian culture from the 1970s through the 1990s. Birkby's films document architecture (including her own designs), her personal life in home movies, and travel. The short films are drawn from the Sophia Smith Collection, Smith College Special Collections.
