We’re thrilled to welcome one of the most preeminent voices in Scottish Music to the West Shore Theatre in New Cumberland!
Julie Fowlis, firmly grounded in Scotland’s language and wild landscapes, has charmed audiences across the globe and even in space. Julie will be appearing with Éamon Doorley (guitar-bouzouki, backing vocals), Duncan Chisholm (fiddles, backing vocals), and Tony Byrne (guitar, backing vocals). Come early for a pre-concert with local Celtic/Americana ensemble Seasons at 7 pm.
‘If snow could sing...’ is how Julie Fowlis’s pure Northern voice was recently described by acclaimed nature writer Robert Macfarlane. Julie hails from the Outer Hebrides, off the coast of Scotland, and now lives in the Scottish Highlands.
She will forever be recognized for singing the theme songs to ‘Brave’, Disney Pixar’s Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA winning animated film, set in the ancient highlands of Scotland. A winner of ‘Folk Singer of the Year’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Julie has graced stages around the world. With several studio albums and numerous high profile collaborations, her voice has been streamed on Spotify alone over 120 million times, and has been heard in space on an official NASA astronaut playlist.
SEASONS:
Taking the stage for a pre-concert at 7pm is local Celtic/Americana band Seasons. paying homage to the rich traditions of Celtic and American folk music that they grew up with.
Seasons are Mary-Kate Spring Lee (Celtic harp, concertina and vocals); Peter Winter Lee (guitar and vocals); Mary-Teresa Summer Lee (Celtic harp and mandolin); Mary-Grace Autumn Lee (hammered dulcimer and bodhran); Mary Clare Chun Lee (fiddle and bodhran); and Luke Joseph Winter Lee (cello and upright bass).
