🇨🇿 „Drame sacré“ neboli duchovní drama, jak Massenet nazval své dílo Marie-Magdeleine na libreto Louise Galleta, popisuje poslední dny Ježíšova života pohledem Máří Magdalény. Ve skladbě plné „šlágrů“ a belcantových melodií, která při své premiéře způsobila svým ztvárněním biblického příběhu menší skandál, uslyšíte prvotřídní sólisty. Poprvé se v roli Máří představí jedna z nejlepších světových sopranistek současnosti Alexandra Kurzak. V roli Ježíše bude debutovat australsko-čínský tenorista Kang Wang, jehož křestní jméno znamená v překladu „krk ze souhvězdí Nefritového draka“. Jen v této sezoně má tento bývalý programátor, který perfektně ovládá čínská bojová umění, ve svém itineráři angažmá v newyorské Met, Vídeňské a Bavorské státní opeře a v opeře v San Franciscu. Ve vedlejší roli Marty uslyšíte vynikající islandskou mezzosopranistku, držitelku International Opera Award 2024 v kategorii „Rising Star“, Arnheiður Eiríksdóttir a v partu proradného Jidáše sólistu Národního divadla, basistu Františka Zahradníčka. Sbor a Orchestr Opery Národního divadla a Kühnův dětský sbor bude řídit velký fanoušek hudby Julese Masseneta, dirigent Robert Jindra. Projekt vznikl v koprodukci Národního divadla a Pražského jara.

🇬🇧 Marie-Magdeleine, this “drame sacré”, as Massenet described his work, written to a libretto by Louis Gallet, traces the last days of Jesus’s life from the perspective of Mary Magdalene. In a work full of “hit numbers” and bel canto melodies – which caused a minor scandal at its premiere through its treatment of a biblical subject – you will hear a cast of first-rate soloists. One of today’s finest sopranos, Alexandra Kurzak, will appear in the role of Mary Magdalene for the first time. The role of Jesus will mark the debut of the Australian-Chinese tenor Kang Wang, whose given name translates as “the neck of the Jade Dragon constellation”. In this very season alone, the former programmer has engagements at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera and San Francisco Opera. In the supporting role of Martha, you will hear the outstanding Icelandic mezzo-soprano Arnheiður Eiríksdóttir, winner of the 2024 International Opera Award in the “Rising Star” category, while the treacherous Judas will be portrayed by the National Theatre soloist, the bass František Zahradníček. The Chorus and Orchestra of the National Theatre Opera and the Prague Philharmonic Children’s Choir will be conducted by the great admirer of Massenet’s music, Robert Jindra. The project has been created as a co-production of the National Theatre and Prague Spring.
