✦Salsa Masters Guest Artist Series with Baila District✦We are humbled to bring one of the great masters of salsa world, Juan Matos! He is a pioneer in the salsa world with his own unique works as well as innovative collaborations with many esteemed artists in the world such as Amneris, Adolfo and Johnny Vazquez. Juan will be sharing his flavor with us in two shines workshops on Saturday Feb 18 at Baila District.
Biography:
"Juan “Pachanga” Matos, born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, came to the United States in April of 1996. This young boy did not know what he was in for. Within three years he became one of New York’s top male dancers. In Santo Domingo, his parents were the leading hustle dancers and they inspired him to dance.
After attending classes with Victor La Magica Pacheco, Juan danced with companies including Magic Combination Dancers and Santo Rico Dance Company before starting many of his own projects with numerous partnerships including Amneris Martinez, Aldolfo Indacochea, Johnny Vazquez, Makel Fonts and many more.
Juan developed what is now called “Pachanga style.” This unique style is what got him noticed amongst New York’s mambo scene. Whether during a social dance or a dance performance, Juan is considered to be one of the best and hottest dancers of his generation."
