JPA invites you to explore one of the most fascinating and consequential works of Jewish thought — the 12th-century Kuzari by the philosopher, physician, and poet Rabbi Judah Halevi. In this four-part seminar led by Rabbi Reuven Khaskin, we will engage in close reading and discussion of Halevi’s vision of Jewish identity, faith, peoplehood, tradition, and the centrality of Israel.
We will place his ideas in conversation with Maimonides, Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch, and modern Zionist thinkers. Together, we will explore how the Kuzari has shaped Jewish philosophy and ethical thought — and why its ideas continue to resonate in contemporary Jewish life.
