About this Event
History isn’t just a list of names and dates—it is written in the streets, neighborhoods, and homes where our ancestors lived, worked, and dreamed.
Building on our March 7 session, this hands-on workshop invites you to step into the role of a history detective. We are moving beyond the family tree to explore the "built environment" of your heritage. Using census data, city directories, and historical records, you will begin mapping your family’s physical journey through time and space.
What to Expect:
• Interactive Mapping: A guided, user-friendly tutorial on creating your own StoryMap—a digital, visual journey of your family’s history.
• Spatial Storytelling: Learn how to connect archival data to real-world locations to see your family’s narrative in a new dimension.
• Collaborative Discovery: Share findings and insights with a small, intimate group of fellow researchers.
• Tangible Results: Walk away with the framework of a digital visual representation of your ancestral history.
