This talk will follow the life story of a grain of cosmic dust, from formation, through assembly into molecules and ultimately dust grains. Linda will trace the journey this dust takes to reach the Solar System, exploring what the early Earth environment may have looked like. She’ll then briefly highlight the rich carbon chemistry found in asteroids and meteorites, before concluding with a discussion of the open questions surrounding how life began on Earth.
Linda is in the third year of her PhD in the School of Physics at the University of Sydney. She holds two Bachelor of Science degrees, with majors in Chemistry and in Physics with Honours
